Ladies Morning Netball

All Sorts Indoor Sports Ladies Social Morning Netball is back!

Netball is one of Australia’s most loved team sports, and what is even better is that you can get you fit fast! The pace of a netball game means it’s a great calorie burner even Social Netball which on average is a 45 minute game, will increase your fitness when played regularly.

Facts

  • Netball is great for toning your legs, calves, thighs and buttocks as they all get a workout.
  • Chest passes can also help tone the arms, shoulders, chest and back.
  • Netball improves the body’s flexibility and nimbleness, as it requires quick changes of direction and speed.
  • Netball improves hand-eye co-ordination, with precision passing and shooting necessary to succeed.
  • Team Social Sports are a fantastic way to get back into regular exercise.
  • Mums need some ‘me time’…. exercise and particularly team sport is the perfect way to have a bit of fun and meet some great people!

Whether a seasoned player or a netball newbie this friendly comp is fun for everyone. The beauty of an indoor Netball Competition is that the games are played ALL YEAR round and will never be cancelled due to the weather. And once the game is over why not carry on the fun at one of Alexandria’s many café spots with your team mates!

All Sorts Indoor Sports Netball Tips

  1. Work on your cross-fitness to play your best and avoid injury
  2. Because the game involves a lot of fast take-offs and landings, make sure you work on your core strength
  3. Listen to your body and don’t push it too far
  4. Good Shoes are vital for the netball court
  5. If you are coming back to regular exercise, ease into it STRETCH, STRETCH and more STRETCHING
  6. Arrive early at your game to do a light warm up before you take the court
  7. Playing as part of a team means that you will have more motivation to fit that session of exercise in every week, and not to mention its way more fun than doing a workout on your own!

Coach of the month – April

Congratulations to Nick Hanna who is this months star coach!

Nick has been coaching for over 20 years and has coached players from children up to adults.

What do you like most about coaching?

Giving back to the game is an amazing feeling and seeing young players improve is priceless

How long have you been coaching?

20 years!

What’s the difference between playing and coaching?

As a player you can influence the game by getting involved and the challenge is a lot more physical but as a coach you can influence the game in more ways than one. coaching players that will eventually go on and do great things is a great way to influence the game and the challenge is a lot harder because you can’t physically go out and play you need the prep and prime the players so that they are ready to play.

Team of the month – April

This month we would like to thank the NSW Floorball team for their ongoing support with All Sorts. They have been with us for 3 years and hold all their major tournaments at Indoor. They continue to grow as an association playing tournaments every Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to NSW Floorball we have had the privilege of the Australian Floorball team train out of All Sorts.
With Floorball NSW recently starting junior floorball comps at All Sorts it is an exciting time for All Sorts and NSW Floorball. We are expecting big things to happen in the future…

floorball

What is Floorball?

Floorball is an innovative new sport that is quickly spreading across the world. Floorball is a fast paced indoor sport that blends the greatest elements of ice hockey with some characteristics also found in soccer and basketball.

Floorball is an indoor sport with five field players and one goalie on each team. Each field player usually has a light carbon graphite stick, which is about 3 feet long. The ball is 3 inches in diameter, white, and made of plastic. The ball is hollow and to make it light there are 26 little holes on the sides and weight only 23 grams.

The Floorball court is similar to an ice-hockey rink but smaller, 120 feet x 60 feet with 20-inch sideboards. There is a goal at each end, which is guarded by a goalie without a stick. The goalie sits on their knees and is able to touch the ball over any part of the court as long as they have one part of their body in the goal area.

What do I need to get started?

Aside from comfortable, breathable gym wear and low sitting rubber soled shoes (please no black soles, as they leave marks on the playing field) you’ll also need a graphite/carbon fibre stick.

(It is not a prerequisite to own a stick upon commencement. Players have spares and are willing to lend them temporarily to help get you started)

How do I get started?

The easiest way to get started is by contacting:
